I mostly work alongside students from the Business faculty, where I lead bible study groups, read the bible one-to-one with students, and plan socials and faculty outreach events.

I also help support the students on the Credo Events team which organises a few larger missional events every semester to connect people to Credo and proclaim Christ to non-Christians on campus.

I train and walk alongside student leaders in bible study leading, evangelism, and personal spiritual formation.

I’m also personally trained up by my supervisors and work alongside a cohort of other apprentices to grow in my own skills and character as a ministry worker.

I currently work 4.5 days a week, with one day a fortnight accounting for my regular hospital shift working as a midwife. I need to do this to keep my accreditation and skills as a registered midwife.

To be honest, I’m not sure yet! The blessing of this apprenticeship is that I’m being trained in many ways, which could be applied to full-time vocational ministry as well as secular work and lay church ministry. I’m continually supported by my supervisor and senior colleagues to help discern what my next steps might be.

Good question! Credo does not charge our students money for serving them. So for me to do this as a job, I have to rely on the financial support of friends and churches that support my ministry through AFES. Money given to my AFES account gets directed towards my salary.

As an AFES apprentice working 4.5 days/week, I’m paid $42.8k per year + super. However, I need to raise $57.8k to cover ministry expenses (eg. camps and conferences, equipment, etc.), superannuation, long-service leave and other costs.
